It seems Louisville is getting juiced.
A locally owned juice bar plans to relocate within the Highlands neighborhood, while a Nashville-based juice bar has just entered the Louisville market.
The relocation involves Louisville-based LifeBar, which has closed its store at 1570 Bardstown Road and is set to move into the Rainbow Blossom Natural Food Markets location in the Gardiner Lane shopping center at 3046 Bardstown Road. LifeBar's other location is located inside the Rainbow Blossom at 3738 Shelbyville Road in St. Matthews.
Meanwhile, Tennessee-based I Love Juice Bar has opened a franchisee location at 4036 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 2, near Dupont Circle, and has plans for a second store.
All three companies sell vegetable-based juices and smoothies.
Juice bars tout the healthiness of their products, which include ingredients such as kale, apples and almond milk, and often recommend smoothies or juices for customers looking for a post-workout refresher or a natural, caffeine-free boost.
LifeBar will move, add delivery service
Owner Chase Barmore said his company outgrew the 650-square-foot space near Bonnycastle Avenue. The St. Matthews location was doing three times more business, he said.
"We just created a great partnership with Rainbow Blossom," Barmore said.
LifeBar will sublease about 800 square feet inside the Gardiner Lane Rainbow Blossom, beyond the refrigeration and storage space the market provides.
Barmore said he will invest about $50,000 in new equipment, adding drain lines and generally building out the space. Rainbow Blossom will cover $20,000 of that cost, Barmore said, and he will use personal funds and a business line of credit to cover the rest.
The new location will open by early summer, he said.
LifeBar also has added delivery service within a 10-mile radius of its stores, Barmore said, employing his other business
, a contract valet and limo service.
